Power of Gratitude

Did everyone watch Caitlin on the Today show this morning?! She was so calm and well spoken! You can watch her interview here and purchase her book here.

Lunch today was more of the Spicy Veggie Protein Bowl leftovers – quinoa, spicy baked chickpeas, salsa & a mini black bean burger

Carrots + hummus

Cottage cheese + blueberries

Up close & personal

And a defrosted Cherry Almond Bran Muffin

Blurry but still good.

And on my way out the door I threw a few soft and delicious cookies into my bag.

What’s on my mind today:

I need to go back to my old habit of writing down 3 things I appreciate every single day.

Why? I just need to. I’m focusing too much on “what isn’t” in my life right now and I don’t want to be. It’s a scary mentality (that is sort of easy to get stuck in, no?) and I want to pull out of it right now! I have tons to be happy and thankful for and look forward to.

Today I’m writing 5 things because it’s long overdue!

5 Things I Appreciate Today:

  1. I am very fortunate to be so physically healthy – I feel great and my running is awesome. Health is so easy to take for granted.
  2. I am grateful that I brought the peanut butter cookies with me for my 3 pm snack. They were exactly what I needed! ;)
  3. I truly appreciate the people in my life who love and care about me so much. I should tell them this more often.
  4. I appreciate the sweet Bruegger’s employee I see daily who brought me my iced coffee today while I was at the end of the long line so I didn’t have to wait.
  5. It’s very nice to work in an air-conditioned building so that I don’t melt in the Boston humidity on days like today!

I have found gratitude to be a powerful tool in changing how I think and feel on a day-to-day basis.

What do you appreciate today?
